From God’s perspective all the work necessary to make both our justification and sanctification effective and complete has already been done by Christ.
Romans 3:28 (NLT)
28So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.
Justification
God in justification gives us a standing before Him as if we had never sinned. It is received by faith.
Romans 4:6 (NLT)
6King David spoke of this, describing the happiness of an undeserving sinner who is declared to be righteous:
Sanctification
The sinner by an act of God’s grace in regeneration is made a new creature and becomes a child of God.
Sanctification is the cleansing of our sin through the precious blood of Jesus. Through the blood of Jesus we are set apart to walk in the will of God.
The gradual process of sanctification (an interior work) is the constant ministry of the cross applied to and operating on the self life; allowing the life of Christ, who is our sanctification, to indwell, control, guide and rule our life.
